Get ready for Float Season, Boise!

Picture of the Boise River

One of the most anticipated events of summer is coming! Every year Idahoans look forward to the opening of float season. For now, conditions on the Boise River are unsafe so the river should be avoided, but the City of Boise has announced plans for an opening date!

Assuming conditions are appropriate and all debris removal has been finished, the first day of float season will also be the first day of summer! Mark your calendars for June 20th.  This date tracks with many previous years, with the average official opening date landing on June 25th for the past 23 years. Floating the six miles down the river is a relaxing and fun adventure that can take 2-3 hours, but safely first!
